Poetry Challenge – June – Teacup

Empty Teacup

The city doesn’t excite me

Quite as much as it used to.

It’s bustling with energy and footsteps,

But none belong to you.

The streetlights flicker on

and drown out the sunset.

I put the kettle on to boil,

And set the table for one.
