Levi’s Secret – Chapter 4

“It’s going to rain.” said Jason sagely as he stepped out into the driveway. Gary looked at the clear skies above and looked disbelievingly at his brother.

“It will.” said Jason as they waited for Paula to bring up the car and for Vicky to finally come out of her room.

“What’s taking Vicky so long?” asked Gary as he kicked a pebble with his feet. Waiting for girls was boring. He couldn’t understand why it was so important for them to get all dressed up anyway. It’s not like it would change anything that major in a person—-

Gary never finished his thought as he saw Vicky walk out of the door, her father following close behind.

Her dark brown hair had been gently plaited at the sides and she wore light silver danglers on her ears that framed her face.

She was slightly uncomfortable as she walked up to them, her slight heels enough to dis-balance her should she be unmindful.

She smoothed down her plaid skirt that ended slightly above her knees and tugged down distractedly at the flowy summer shirt tucked into the skirt.

She cast Jason and Gary a nervous look. “Do I look okay?” she asked, her voice faltering with doubt.

Jason and Gary took a long look at each other and let out simultaneous sighs.

“You look really pretty Vicky.” supplied Jason reassuringly.

“You know what I’m not sure we’re ready to let you go to that party. ” said Gary with a smile. “It will be full of  opportunistic boys and girls who smoke pot and drink like camels. Not to mention the level of indecency—“

“Yes, we know Gary. Shut up before uncle Axky changes his mind.” hissed Jason as he nudged Gary with his elbow.

“Ouch!” protested Gary as he rubbed his sore side. “It’s the truth ain’t it?”

Axky cursed under his breath. He didn’t like to admit it, but damn it the boys were right.

He looked at his daughter and couldn’t help but sigh resignedly. Was it this hard for all fathers? To watch their little girl grow up so soon?

It seemed that time had sped up and Vicky was no longer the child who held onto his little finger when they walked, because her hands were too tiny to hold his own.

Tonight, she looked beautiful. Graceful and innocent, her eyes bright at the prospect of finally having a normal event in her life. She was excited and hopeful about what the night held for her.

It would be so easy to forbid her from going to the party. She would obey him, she would lose the light in her eyes.

No it wasn’t worth it. Nothing was worth seeing her sad.

Axky decided that he wouldn’t stop her. She would definitely go. She would have her  fun.

She just didn’t need to know that he’d only be a stones throw away.

Paula smoothly brought the appallingly bright purple Lamborghini to a halt in front of them, nodding approvingly at Vicky.

“Hey kids, all set and ready to go?” she asked her eyes wrinkling as she smiled widely.

Gary and Jason took a moment to gape at the horrendous colour Axky had chosen for such an awesome car.

“Uncle Axky?” asked Gary as he regained control of his tongue. “Just why is the car looking like an eggplant?”

“Haven’t you heard kiddo that purple is the new hot colour of the season?” said Axky with a grin as he held the door open for Vicky.

Vicky laughed. It didn’t matter to her in the least if she walked or got there on a bicycle. Or in a car that looked suspiciously like Chinese purple cabbage. Hey but didn’t Cinderella reach the ball in a pumpkin carriage?

She got into the back seat, Jason and Gary following soon after. Axky shut the door after them and walked over to the other side to give Vicky a light kiss on her forehead.

“Can’t ruffle your hair right now, I guess.” he said with a laugh. “It’s done up too well.”

“Dad, it’s okay for me to go right?” asked Vicky seriously as she peered out of the window to look at him. Axky had insisted he had to work that night and it tugged on Vicky’s heartstrings to leave him behind.

“Yes honey. I love you and trust you. Have fun tonight, and call me if you are even slightly uncomfortable okay? No one is worth losing your dignity over. Just remember that.” he said.

Jason and Gary nodded. Between Paula, Axky and the two of them they would absolutely destroy anyone who tried to hurt Vicky. But Vicky didn’t need to know that.

Paula revved up the engine casting a shy smile at Axky, who even after all these years found the action insanely sexy. He leaned against the window and kissed her his hands cupping her face. She leaned into the kiss, her eyes closing as he deepened it.

“EWWW!” said Gary bluntly.

“GROSS!” exclaimed Jason.

“Um guys, maybe you could do this later?” said Vicky timidly.

Paula and Axky resurfaced looking slightly embarrassed. “Okay then kids. Off you go.”

With a confident nod, Paula stepped onto the accelerator and guided the Lamborghini out of the estate.

Axky watched them disappear before pulling out his cell phone. His face lit up with a smile as he dialed a familiar well-used number.

“Hey Jack?” He said chirpily. ” I need some help. Grab your bike and head over to my place.”

***

“Aunt Paula it’s already nine o’ clock. Vicky’s going to be late.” saod Jason looking at his watch in dismay as they rode onto the highway at moderate speed.

Paula smirked. The kids were underestimating her to the point it was almost insulting.

With a deep breath she whirled the Lamborghini onto the dirt road runing parallel to the highway.

“Mom what are you—” started Vicky. But Paula was already showing them what the car was capable of. They whizzed past corn crops and abandoned hay stacks at an almost obscene speed, the countryside blurring into the night as the Lamborghini finally lived up to it’s  potential.

“Sweet!” Proclaimed Gary with delight. “Vicky your mom is sooo cool. Our mom doesn’t even let us ride our bikes without the support wheels on.”

Jason pulled down the window and let the night air rush in and seive through his hair.

At this rate, they would reach within another fifteen minutes. Vicky smiled as adrenaline pumped through her veins.

It was finally time for her to find Levi, to speak to him one on one. To get to truly know him.

Her thoughts engulfed her for a long time and she didn’t notice immediately that the wind had messed up her hair or the fact that the car had suddenly stopped.

“Cromway’s house party up ahead. No cars allowed!” came a loud male voice. Paula hit the breaks and switched to reverse, but stopped as there was someone behind the car.

“This car is sick!” exclaimed a blonde haired boy bending down and peering at the headlights.

“Sure as hell is!” said the boy looking at the rear lights. “It’s a freaking Lamnorghini!”

The kid up front got super excited at his words, almost as though Christmas had come early fir him. He looked like he was around Vicky’s age. His hair spiked up with plenty of hairgel, his ripped jeans showing more skin than necessary.

“David come and see this! This kid must be loaded.” Yelled the boy at the back. Vicky strained her neck to see a dark haired boy with a lip and eyebrow piercing. He looked kind of sexy and Vicky hurriedly turned away.

David didn’t come alone. He came with a group of six other boys, all wearing low riding jeans and what appeared to be vests. Her heart did a backflip as she realized how hot these teenage boys were. Damn it her hormones were going crazy already!

One of the first things teenagers do at a house party is notice if there is someone new.

And there she was, peering out of the window, looking like a dream, her beautiful face lighting up the night.

The eight boys looked at each other and smiled.

“Well well well.” said the Blondie with a slightly creepy smile. “Welcome to the party.”

The lip piercing guy grinned, “so you gonna come out or get drunk in there?”

The other boys sneered and snorted, taking swigs out of a few cans of beer. A few of them were already wasted and were laughing maniacally. One of them was throwing up by the back wheel.

Jason and Gary looked horrified. Paula looked like she was going to call the police soon.

But all Vicky saw was a familiar figure standing on the balcony of the house up front. His eyes looked searchingly at the purple vehicle, widening as Vicky stepped out of the car surprising them all. She looked up at the boy on the balcony willing him to remember and recognize her.

He blinked blankly but continued to look, the drink in his hand forgotten. The eight boys and Lamborghini waited and watched with bated breath as Vicky walked in through the doors.

Oh the things we do for love.
